Review by *Elisa Maria Crites for NovelTeen
Many girls dream of their wedding day years before it becomes a reality, so a story that begins with the bride not showing up for her wedding piqued my interest. Kate Evans loves to fly and on her wedding day she chooses to pursue her dream of becoming a bush pilot in Alaska over marrying her lifelong friend and neighbor in Yakima, Washington.
Kate arrives in Alaska in her plane named ‘Fearless Kate’ and applies for a job where she is met with skepticism. Who would hire a woman to fly in the rugged, unpredictable land of Alaska?. Independent, spirited and determined, Kate eventually convinces someone to give her a chance to prove herself as a pilot, which she does well. As the story unfolds, we learn that Kate has a dark secret that drives her. Will it push her to take too many chances in an unforgiving environment?
Touching The Clouds weaves interesting characters, a hint of romance, and the challenges of living in the bush in Alaska. (Think harsh weather, wild animals, no medical facilities nearby.)
Being an Alaskan myself, I appreciate the research author Bonnie Leon did to make sure her facts were correct. She portrays the people and experiences of pre-statehood Alaska honestly. This is an enjoyable read.

I thought this novel compared very well with others in the world of Christian historical fiction. It had numerous tricks and turns that kept me turning one page after another well into the night.
I wrote my own review that can be found here:
