"Video Game Lies" by Paul Bury

PDF | Print | E-mail

Our friend Paul Bury, editor and founder of Family Friendly Gaming has written and published a book about the video gaming world. Written from a Christian perspective, Video Game Lies is a valuable resource for gamers and their families.

Paul has been involved in the video game industry for over 30 years – since the days of PONG! Everything he writes about comes from his own personal experiences, scientific observations, analysis, and from deep within his heart and soul. Mr. Bury wants every single gamer to have the best life they can lead, and that is partially what prompted him to write this powerful book.

Video Game Lies will give you the tools to enter, engage, and hold your own in the complex discussion of how the video game industry needs to improve. This book gives you the credible weapons you need if you want to help gamers out.

The book makes it very clear that not all video games are bad. Each video game teaches one or more lessons. Some of those lessons are good, and some are bad. We have to be open and honest about the lessons we are letting in, and then we have to discern the good from the bad.

The book addresses the subject of video game addiction, and has a simple, personal test. Stay away from anything related to video games for a week! Then try it for an entire month. If you can successfully avoid and not play, then you are probably not addicted. If you can't stay away, then you have a serious problem. Do not try the excuse: “If I wanted to I could stop.”
