Review by Jill Williamson for NovelTeen
Looking for a great heart to heart with a girl who gets true love? Want to know how to get text messages from God? Escaping the Vampire takes a look at what girls love about the Twilight series and compares that to our human desire for an Immortal Hero. This book is filled with true-life stories from girls, advice on how to deal with life, and truth about the best love story ever lived.
I’ll admit, this book wasn’t what I thought it would be. I expected a book like Beth Felker Jones’ Touched by a Vampire, which took a deeper look at some of the issues in the Twilight story. Escaping the Vampire is more of an answer book for a girl’s life. Kimberly Powers gets deep with girls on the hurts in life. She talks about how Christ’s love is the answer to every desire within us and urges girls to find their identity in Christ.
This is a great book for girls looking for answers. The Twilight associations give teens a bridge of connection that can help them see truth. If you feel like you’ve been striving and failing to find true love or that life is filled with nothing but hurt, check out this book. You’ll find that your true Hero awaits.
Highly Recommended.
