Review: "FINDING ANGEL" by Kat Heckenbach
Series: Finding Angel #1
Review by The Book Fae
3.5/5 stars
Genre: Young Adult/Fantasy/Christian
Angel doesn’t remember her magical heritage…but it remembers her.Magic and science collide when she embarks on a journey to her true home, and to herself.
Angel lives with a loving foster family, but dreams of a land that exists only in the pages of a fantasy novel. Until she meets Gregor, whose magic Talent saves her life and revives lost memories. She follows Gregor to her homeland…a world unlike any she has imagined, where she travels a path of self-discovery that leads directly to her role in an ancient Prophecy…and to the madman who set her fate in motion.
Summary: I enjoyed this book. It took me a chapter to get into, but this was by no fault of the author – I have trouble relating to a thirteen-year-old girl. Especially a thirteen-year-old girl involved in a sub-plot that flirts with romance… but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. One of Kat’s greatest strengths as a writer is her ability to really transport her reader to wherever the character is. I could envision everything going on, how everyone looked – I could practically smell it!! I adored her mixture of the modern world and fantasy, magic and science, seriousness with humor. I look forward to the sequel, which is COMING OUT VERY SOON!!!
