Job-title: CEO of Kingdom Comics

Give us your job description in 25 words or less. I am a publisher of comic books with a Biblical persuasion. I am also an artist and a writer.
Describe a typical workday. Because I am a publisher as well as an artist and writer, my days vary. A typical day can be anything from spending time doing art, or writing a story, or preparing and arranging comic book pages to be submitted to a printer. Right now, I wear many hats.
What led you to realize that you wanted to do this type of work? I’ve always loved to draw. Early on, my desire was to be a comic book artist. As is common, I used to draw and create my own comic books. When I gave my life to The Lord, I decided I wanted to do Christian comic books. Now, I’ve come to realize that what I’m doing is more of a calling, than a hobby or even a business.
Did you have any heroes or mentors in your industry that you admired? I loved the artwork of comic book artist Marc Silvestri. I was also a fan of Mark Texeira.
What type of education or training was required to land your job? To actually run Kingdom Comics as a business, I realized that I needed training. As such, I attended Business School in 1999.
What do you love most about your job? Doing what I’m very passionate about, while at the same time being used of God to reach others with His Gospel!
What one part of your job do you wish you could hire someone else to do? I wish I could hire someone to keep up with are financial records. I’m still more of an artist than a numbers person.
What advice would you give to teenagers wanting to get into your field of work? Get training. If you want to be an artist, train for that. If you want to get into business, train for that. If you want to do it all, then train for it all.
How does your job allow you to use your God-given gifts? Just about every gifting I have is being used in one way or another through what I am doing. I’m a creative person, but I also have the heart of an entrepreneur.
Do you have any hobbies or off-hours pursuits that teenagers would find of interest? At age 40, I can still get out there and play basketball. I can even still dunk! (Not at full height, however)
