Senator, Filmmaker, and Son Brooks Douglass and "HEAVEN'S RAIN"
by Angela Walker for ChristianCinema.com
HEAVEN'S RAIN is a story taken straight from headline news. It sounds like too many others that we hear on a regular basis. Then something happens and we realize there's more to this story than just another terrifying news piece. There is a deeper and much more compelling story that will grip the hearts of all who see it. Many years after it happened, Brooks Douglass went through the cathartic experience of writing, producing and filming his family's story; a dramatic tale of forgiveness and hope.
HEAVEN'S RAIN is the story of Richard and Marilyn Douglass. After serving as missionaries in Brazil, they brought their two children, Brooks and Leslie, back to Oklahoma City, where Richard pastored a large church. In mid-October of 1979, two men enteredtheir family home, repeatedly assaulted Leslie, shot all four of the Douglass family, and left them for dead. Richard and Marilyn died at the scene and Brooks and Leslie recovered. However, their ordeal was just beginning. For the next 16 years after the two men were caught, the legal system protected the rights of the accused men. Brooks and Leslie were repeatedly called upon to testify in court and relive what Brooks calls "the worst day of my life."

She sets out with her best friend to find her real mother and discover why she wasn’t wanted. The film itself deals with forgiveness and the subject of abortion.

Even though he feels like he's been herded around like a farm animal, Jon Erwin is enjoying the process of publicity for OCTOBER BABY, his first feature film that opens nationwide on March 23, 2012.
I first met Jon when he and his brother Andy did a documentary on 9/11 called THE CROSS AND THE TOWERS. Jon and Andy developed their photography skills with ESPN football, honed their filmmaking abilities with music videos and last year finished OCTOBER BABY, their first feature story. I caught up with Jon in between publicity jaunts and we talked about the film, his career arc, and the future for this filmmaking duo.

Apostle Peter and the Last Supper is the latest offering from Pure Flix Entertainment. This faith-based biblical story offers hope, forgiveness, prayer and the message that anything is possible. Relive the time Peter spent with Jesus, from the Great Commission to the life-changing Last Supper and the garden of Gethsemane. Set in Rome. AD 67. Two Jailers at the ancient Mamertine Prison take custody of a famous criminal. He is Simon Peter of Galilee-apostle, disciple, and the personal friend of Jesus (Bruce Marchiano), also called The Christ. Condemned to death, the elderly Peter (Robert Loggia) recounts his life as a simple fisherman who became one of the boldest figures in all of Christianity. As Peter prepares to depart this earthly life, he will make an unforgettable impression on his jailers through the saving power of the Gospel. The production of this film is low budget because of what it tries to pull off and the pacing is slow, but there is good truth presented throughout.
