Review: "Spellet" - iPhone/iPod Touch

SCORE: 82/100
Spellet is an interesting twist on spelling words. We have the word we want to spell on the screen, and the letters are in balloons. All four corners contain pipes. We press a corner and a ball is launched. It bounces around hitting balloons until it goes right back into another pipe. Sometimes even the same pipe it came from originally.
Spellet has a soft look to it. The letters are bold and large enough to be seen easily on the iPod Touch/iPhone. The diagonal grid on Spellet show us where the balls will go. The rubber bands are bright and colorful. They pop from the background graphics quite nicely. I did not find any offensive graphics while playing Spellet.
One area Spellet could use some improvement is the audio department. This hand held title is as silent as the grave. There are plenty of good words in Spellet. This game can be used to teach children how to spell certain words. Spellet contains one hundred challenging levels. They start out easy, but get more difficult as each level progresses.
Spellet slowly adds new skills that add new layers of depth. Some of the levels in Spellet are very easy to figure out. Others take some real thought. The first hurdle is finding which pipe to start with, and then make sure the right path is followed to correctly spell the word. I mis-spelled words on a regular occurrence until I discovered the right path.
Families can use Spellet as a part puzzle game, and part educational game. This iPhone/iPod Touch game is definitely unique. I feel Spellet is worth the ninety-nine cents it is being sold for. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for this review. I can see sequels to Spellet in the future.
