Paul tells me about a variety of games he sees at E3 that he thinks I will enjoy. He is almost always right. But I don't want him to get a big head, so sometimes I question if a game will actually be fun. This is what I did with iCarly Groovy Foodie. It sounded like a time management game that would agitate me to no end.
As I started playing iCarly Groovy Foodie I could tell it was something special. Yes this is a time management game - like so many on the iPhone/iPod Touch. But iCarly Groovy Foodie is a Nintendo DS title. And a really good one. We can have up to five lines of patrons. We pick what food item is created, and when it is done we send it down the appropriate line.
iCarly Groovy Foodie mixes together a couple of different styles in terms of graphics. There are live images of the characters from the television show, and then art and animation of the game. These blend together wonderfully. I love the service aspect of iCarly Groovy Foodie. We are doing everything we can to satisfy the patrons. If we fail, they leave. No ugliness, no nastiness - they just leave.
The music in iCarly Groovy Foodie is fantastic. I love listening to this game while playing it. The ding of the bell when something is ready snapped my attention back to where it was needed. Which was a very good thing. I appreciate how the girls are fixing one of their mistakes. They are making things right - which is a great lesson to the current generation.
Points are earned in every level played. Those points are used to purchase upgrades. Many of the upgrades in iCarly Groovy Foodie make the game easier. Trust me you will need it at some point. iCarly Groovy Foodie brings the pressure to the player in a slow boil. Things get more difficult the more you play. So those power ups are definitely needed.
Frantic mayhem and insanity is the best way to describe the game play in iCarly Groovy Foodie. In some levels I held on just long enough to successfully complete them. Others I was a master of the food, and all of the patrons. I hope to see more games like iCarly Groovy Foodie in the near future. It was a pleasure for me to play and review this hand held video game.
