Review: "Chopper I" - PS3/PSP

Reviewed by Miluma for FamilyFriendlyGaming

SCORE: 72/100

Chopper I defines what it was the hardcore arcade-games of the late 80's. If you are not familiarized with this kind of arcade shooter, you will have a hard time beating it. It has the classic arcade graphics and the beautiful arcade sounds; it just has the word arcade all over it.

The objective is simple, survive the horde of enemy helicopters, tanks, bases and airplanes. You start off with the standard attack but as you progress you can upgrade your attacks. At the end of each stage there is a boss waiting for you. Be sure to have a strategy prepared and learn the pattern of the boss, that way you will have a chance.

The controls are really simple, move with the analog sticks (or d-pad if you want to) and shoot with X, the special attack is square, be sure to use your special attacks wisely since this is crucial in order to beat the stage. You can change the difficulty (recommended) to easy and you can put as many credits as you want using the triangle button.

I could not beat the Chopper I, but that does not take away the fact that it is a good arcade title. It has the graphics, the gameplay and the soundtrack. I would not recommend this game for kids or anyone who is not into hardcore arcade titles. If you are a fan of arcade titles and want a trip to the past, this extremely brutal arcade game is a challenge that will be right up your alley.
