There are so many different an interesting ideas for video games out there. I have fleshed out a few ideas for games myself. But this review is not about me. Instead it is about Tic Tac Mo. This is a three person Tic Tac Toe. Tic Tac Mo adds additional rows to increase the complexity. It also opens some new strategies.
Tic Tac Mo is plain in terms of the graphics. We can be the 'X', the 'O', or the 'Y'. Each of these sport a different color. There are technically only two screens in Tic Tac Mo. The main screen where you decide if there is one human player, two human players, or three human players. Then we have the game play field. Once a game is completed we are given two on screen buttons.
The biggest disappointment for me concerning Tic Tac Mo is the sounds. This app is as silent as the grave. Some annoying music would have been better than nothing. Not even a tutorial on how to play, and maybe some keys to victory. We have to figure out what to do in Tic Tac Mo. Generally that is pretty easy. But there were opportunities for this app to shine in this department.
The whole three player aspect to Tic Tac Mo is really interesting. I would set up a chance to get three in a row in two different ways. Well both computer players would block me. I had to get really tricky to beat the computer. Human players could be fooled much easier. But passing around an iPhone/iPod Touch is not always the coolest thing to do.
Tic Tac Mo keeps track of which player wins the game. As long as the player continues on for multiple games, they can see who is winning over all. I had fun playing Tic Tac Mo. It was a fleeting entertainment though. Tic Tac Mo did not stick with me as an app I will continue playing for weeks. It has a good selling price, which many independent developers fail at. So they have that going for them.
