Review: "Zumba Fitness Core" - Xbox 360/Wii

Zumba has been huge internationally in recent years. Majesco Entertainment realized that a Zumba based video game would most likely do well. And guess what? They were right. Many of us ladies do not mind working out. We just don't want men leering at us, or telling us how we are doing some exercise wrong.

I need to get one important thing out of the way when discussing Zumba Fitness Core. The front cover of this Xbox 360 Kinect game shows what some of the trainers will wear. Many of the female characters are in skimpy work out attire. If that bothers you then Zumba Fitness Core is probably not for you.

Zumba Fitness Core has three kinds of songs. There are the low intensity - just a step above stretching. There are the medium intensity - now you are getting that blood flowing. Finally there are the high intensity - call the ambulance when you are done with these songs; that is if you can keep up.

The songs in Zumba Fitness Core have an international flavor to them. There are some songs in English, but there are many in other languages. I was rarely sure what they were talking about. I spent more time trying to figure out how to make my body contort in those ways. Certain dance moves in Zumba Fitness Core could be defined as sexual in nature.

The core of Zumba Fitness Core is getting exercise. The idea is to sweat away while dancing. There is a link on the back of the manual to receive a complimentary one week pass. I would suggest getting good at Zumba Fitness Core in your own living room before taking that up. Unless you are the kind that need others to help motivate you.

The Kinect sensor does a fantastic job picking up the player. I was able to do well on many of the songs in Zumba Fitness Core. Especially when we are talking about the low intensity ones. Some of the motions in the routines can be confusing at first. Stick with it, and you should catch on later in the song. Since motions are repeated.
