Review: "Dungeon Defenders" - Xbox 360/PC/PS3
Reviewed by Mark for FamilyFriendlyGaming
SCORE: 68/100
Dungeon Defenders starts off exceptionally well. These heroes have vanquished the evil old ones, and entrapped them into crystals. They go off on a quest, and leave their children behind. Who accidentally knock one off, and have to stop the waves of evil hordes. Why stop them? Because they want to free all the others. Then the game lets you decide if you want to go through the tutorial or not. I suggest you take the tutorial. Those few minutes will fill in some blanks on how to play Dungeon Defenders.

You know some of the things we complain about right? Especially when it comes to a Pokemon game. The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon franchise for example is too slow. Well Nintendo has definitely listened with the Pokemon Rumble Blast hand held game on the Nintendo 3DS. This game picks up the pace. At times it can be a little dizzying.

Mercury Hg is a fantastic game on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This downloadable game has the players move around a blob of mercury. Paint it different colors, separate it out, turn on switches, and other play mechanics are incorporated. Leaderboards are immediately present when playing this home console puzzle game. After completing a level the player can see where they rank among all the other players. Hopefully you can do better than I did in that regard.

Our illustrious leader asked me one question before I started to review DanceDanceRevolution II on the Wii. He asked me: "is DanceDanceRevolution still relevant with a dance pad?" I pondered that question as I stepped on the arrows. As I played some of the same songs in the Just Dance games. I danced to some of the same songs in Everybody Dance. Is it time for Konami to put the dance pad in the closet? Is it better to Kinect and Move?

Go Vacation earned the Family Friendly Gaming Gold Medal at E3 2011 for the Wii system. This game impressed me greatly at that show. Everything I saw and played in Go Vacation let me know this game was going to be a winner. What I did not realize at E3 2011 is how deep Go Vacation really is. This home console game is like We Ski and Snowboard multiplied by four. There are four resorts in Go Vacation. All of them are as fleshed out as the snow resort.

When I was younger I wanted to be a professional wrestler. There were no schools in my area for that, so I went about my life. I never gave up on the concept of becoming a pro wrestler though. That was until I found out how much pain they go through. The low life expectancy, high drug and alcohol use. Once I learned of those things I decided that being a magazine editor was just fine.

Okabu has come from some creative minds. Players take on the role of Cloud Whales. Part cloud, and part whale. I am not joking about that either. You float around, collect water, rain it down, or spit it out. Then you can start to carry passengers who will grant additional powers. Like being able to grab things and pull them. The story in Okabu is sort of on the environmentalists fringe.

My guess is Sony read my preview and acted upon it.

Everybody Dance is the latest dance game exclusively on the Playstation 3. This home console game needs the Playstation Move. The camera (Playstation Eye) sees the player and the Playstation Motion Controller. If you have played any dance games in the past you will catch on quickly. If not, let me explain just a little bit. Dancers on the screen will perform certain actions. Players have to duplicate the moves in their living rooms. The closer you are to the motion the higher your score will be.

The best way I can think of describing PowerUp Heroes is a Street Fighter game mixed with Mega-Man on the Kinect. You might be wondering what I am talking about. So let me try and untangled all of that. This is a fighting game where your Xbox 360 Avatar gets amazing powers. You fight other people or computer controlled characters. Many of the moves remind me of Street Fighter. After you defeat an opponent you get the powers from their suit. This is where Mega-Man comes into play.

Review: "Kinectimals" - Xbox 360(Kinect)
Reviewed by Paul for FamilyFriendlyGaming
SCORE: 100/100
Family Friendly Gaming is one of the most stingy magazine and video game review sites when it comes to giving out a perfect 100 score. With over 2300 reviews written(October 2011), only two games have gotten a perfect one hundred. Well those two games have a new sibling. Kinectimals has earned its way to the top. This Xbox 360 video game that requires the Kinect allows us to play with various feline cubs. I personal enjoyed the tiger cub which is the main known character. I got to play with the cub, take care of him/her, do tricks, run through obstacle courses, throw balls, drive RC cars, and more. I purchased Kinectimals myself since Family Friendly Gaming was forgotten at launch. Which some would say makes the perfect score even more impressive. Kids are the target audience of Kinectimals, but I found intelligent adults can have a lot of fun with this game as well. Many of the activities in Kinectimals require physical movement, which equates to one thing - exercise. That is one of the real selling points to families in my opinion. The Wii showed the way, but Kinect is taking it further.

That gold can be used to build cities, buildings, and armies. When the armies battle it is done in a match three or more puzzle screen.

Yggdra Union is a lesser known Gameboy Advance (GBA) game that was ported over to the Playstation Portable (PSP). Atlus is an amazing publisher who sometimes finds the most obscure games and brings them to the American audience. This can be a good thing in some games, and at other times it is not received as well. Yggdra Union is a turn based strategy role playing game with cards. Before you freak out and think this is like Yu-Gi-Oh! know that Yggdra Union is different. The most difficult part about this PSP game can to start a battle due to the various unwritten rules related to who can have what, and what is and what is not allowed in a battle.
