Film And DVD Reviews by Phil Boatwright
The family-geared TV network, GMC, presents Dean Cain in A Mile in His Shoes Sunday, Sept. 25 at 7:00pm ET. Directed by William Dear (Angels in the Outfield, Harry and the Hendersons), the film is an uplifting story aobut Mickey Tussler, a 17-year-old farm boy with Asperger’s Syndrome and a killer fastball (Luke Schroder). The young man is recruited by minor league manager Arthur “Murph” Murphy (Dean Cain, TV’s Superman). Murph is convinced Mickey has a gift, but his autism keeps him isolated from a world he attempts to understand. Caught between life at home with his overprotective father and life on the field, Mickey turns to his gift, the support of his teammates and Murph, who gives him the opportunity of a lifetime. Murph learns a few life lessons himself along the way.
PREVIEW REVIEW: Though hampered with a small budget, the film is involving and both Schroder and Cain do fine work. It’s a clean film, with only one or two objectionable words, which will no doubt be bleeped out for the television presentation. And on top of that, the Bible is spotlighted and matters of faith are discussed.
